Imperfect Pitch - Football, Space and Landscape
I'll also highlight this old piece I made: a creation myth for football pitches which argues that football is a form of abstracted urbanism. (watch out for the dodgy navigation though - apologies for that) There are also these photographs taken of goals appearing to mutate into clusters of dysfunctional sport objects.
A wonderful series of photographs by Hans Van Der Meer documenting amateur football pitches in a book called 'European Fields: The Landscape of Lower League Football'
As it turns out, Hans was the photographer of KesselsKramers 'Other Final' - an inverted world cup final between FIFAs lowest ranked teams, for which I designed the trophy.
